“This cynical and self-indulgent stunt serves no one and harms everyone. It would be reckles at any time, but is particularly disgraceful when we are seven months into the financial year without an agreed budget, families are struggling with rising costs and public sector workers are balloting for strike action to secure the fair pay they deserve.
“It is utterly baffling that the largest unionist party would seek to block the Executive’s participation in a UK-wide Economic Forum. This was an opportunity to discuss economic growth and prosperity, as well as speak directly to the Prime Minister about the need for fair funding to invest in Northern Ireland’s public services and economic potential.

“Once again, the DUP is putting its own internal selfish party interest ahead of the public interest, gambling with people’s lives and livelihoods in the process. People are rightly exhausted by this constant cycle of drama, dysfunction and ransom politics.
“While some remain addicted to chaos and distraction, Alliance is focused on securing an agreed budget, fighting for fair pay for public sector workers and delivering for people right across our community.”
