South Belfast MLA Paula Bradshaw, who chairs the Committee for the Executive Office, stated: "We have seen over the past few weeks and months just how essential it is that we ensure reconciliation, diversity, equality and inclusion are embedded in everything the Executive has, if we wish to deliver services and support in a way which is truly transformative.
"While we fully agree with the three pillars currently outlined in the draft Programme - people, prosperity and planet - we are firmly of the view that a fourth 'p' is being missed. Peacebuilding is essential, not just as a pillar but as an underlying theme across all Executive actions, if we are to move on decisively from the division of the past.
"The Programme for Government is not just a set of priorities, but an opportunity to signal that we are ready to tackle the tough issues which have held us back - to overcome paramilitarism, to challenge racism and sectarianism, to embrace diversity and to deliver genuine reconciliation.
"My party colleagues and I would continue to urge the public to use the remaining consultation time to make their voice heard. It is essential we get this right, and that we embed peacebuilding as a fundamental mission in government actions and policies for the next three years and beyond."
