The dispute had been ongoing for a significant amount of time and resulted in non-teaching staff engaging in industrial action on a number of dates during the previous academic year.
The Strangford MLA spoke following the announcement: “Previous industrial action has demonstrated just how vital non-teaching staff are in keeping our schools open and functioning. This is particularly important with regard to special schools, where non-teaching staff play a crucial role in assisting children who often have complex medical and additional needs.
“Progression of the Non-Teaching Pay and Grading review is essential not only for staff currently working in these roles, but also to ensure that recruitment and retention of staff can be maximised in order to ensure the day to day delivery of our education system.
“Non-teaching staff are essential members of the school community and work incredibly hard. They deserve fair pay which recognises their vital work, commitment and dedication to our children and young people. It is incredibly welcome to see this dispute finally resolved.”
