By joining Alliance, you will be both supporting and helping Northern Ireland's cross-community party. The twin problems of sectarianism and segregation continue to hold Northern Ireland back. It is crucially important that Northern Ireland has a strong and vibrant cross-community, anti-sectarian party, working to heal the divisions in our society and to unite the community. Members come from all walks of life, young and old, and from many parts of the world.
What does being a member involve?
Each member makes their own decision on how to participate. Some members support the party in purely financial terms. Others help out on policy committees, campaign on local, regional and global issues, organise social events, work in election campaigns, or even stand for election.
How does the party work?
Alliance is a democratic party. Every member is assigned to a local constituency association. Members play a key role in making policy, electing the leadership and Party Executive, and selecting candidates for public office. All Alliance members are entitled to attend our annual Conference, and receive our quarterly Alliance magazine, Alliance News.
