Upper Bann MLA

Eóin Tennyson

About Eóin

Born in Maghery, County Armagh, Eóin studied at Queen’s University Belfast before completing a Master of Accounting at University College Dublin. He is currently training as a chartered accountant with a professional services firm.

Prior to entering politics, Eóin volunteered with youth clubs across Upper Bann and as well as with the Rainbow Project. He remains passionate about youth affairs and LGBT+ equality. At university, he was an active member of the student union movement and chaired Alliance's youth wing.

In May 2019, Eóin became the first Alliance Councillor to be elected to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. As the party’s candidate for Upper Bann in that year’s Westminster election, he achieved Alliance’s best ever result in the constituency.

Eóin's priorities for Upper Bann

1. Climate Action

Eóin has championed climate action during his time in Local Government, leading campaigns for his Council to declare a Climate Emergency, to support divestment of Councillor's pensions from fossil fuels and establish a Climate Emergency Working Group.

2. A Shared and Integrated Society

Division in Northern Ireland carries both a societal and financial cost. That's why Eóin is committed to uniting our community and building a shared future. He wants to further facilitate and support the growth of integrated education and mixed housing in Upper Bann.

3. Health

Covid-19 has once again highlighted the heroic work of those in our health service. Eóin passionately supports fair pay and conditions for health and social care staff. As a local councillor, he backed the campaign to retain Breast Assessment Services at Craigavon Area Hospital and will continue to stand up for local services.
