Parker delighted to see progress on car removal from River Lagan

Alliance Lisburn Councillor Nicola Parker has said she’s delighted to finally see progress on the much-called for removal of a car from the River Lagan, after liaising between council and the local Community Rescue Service (CRS) to see the process started.

An operation was undertaken today (16 Aug) by the CRS to remove as much of the car as was possible at this stage.
Cllr Parker has said: “After the vehicle spent decades sat stuck in the river and what felt like endless engagement on our end to try and address it, the local community raised their voices so effectively and I’m delighted to see progress finally made on the car’s removal.
“I want to give my sincere thanks to the Community Rescue Service for stepping up and offering their assistance, who with cooperation from council, made this clean-up operation possible today. I’m so proud to have been able to play my part and help facilitate it finally being done.
“Our waterways and natural environment are such precious resources and Alliance will always be committed to seeing them preserved and protected.”
