O’Lynn condemns paramilitary-style shooting of teenager

Condemnation North Antirm Patricia O'Lynn

Alliance MLA Patricia O’Lynn has condemned a paramilitary-style shooting of a teenager in Bushmills, and said there is no place for guns on our streets.

The incident happened around 11:10pm in the Woodvale Park area of Bushmills last night (Wednesday 11th May). The 19 year old man was shot in the leg, inside the house, before being dragged to the front garden and shot again in another part of the same leg. He was then beaten with the wooden weapons before the masked men left the property on foot.

“There can be no acceptance for such paramilitary-style assaults. These people and the weapons they use have no place on our streets,” said Ms O’Lynn.

“I hope the victim will be able to recover from what will have been a very traumatic and life altering incident.”

“Those with knowledge behind this and other such vile attacks need to come forward and provide information to the police. This scourge on our society must be addressed.”
