John Blair selected as Alliance South Antrim Assembly candidate

Alliance MLA John Blair has been selected by the party to stand for South Antrim at the Assembly election on Thursday 6 May 2027.

Guaranteeing better facilities for rural communities, alleviating the pressure of sky-high living costs on hard-working families, championing animal welfare and protecting our environment are among his key priorities.

Speaking about his selection, Mr Blair has said: “I am honoured to have been re-selected as Alliance’s candidate in South Antrim for the 2027 Assembly election. It has been a privilege to represent this constituency, and I am proud to have served as its sole cross-community MLA for the last eight years.

“People across South Antrim feel let down by a political system that too often prioritises division over delivery. While families worry about the cost of living, patients wait too long for treatment, and communities want to see real progress, we are too often held back by politics that thrives on fear, division, and distraction.

“Next May, we have a real opportunity to change that. Together, we can fix our broken politics and focus on what matters most: cutting health waiting lists, bringing down costs for working families, and protecting Lough Neagh and the environment for future generations.

“My campaign is about bringing people together and putting progress, prosperity and hope for our entire community ahead of the tribal politics of the past. I believe South Antrim deserves politics that delivers, unites and looks to the future. A better, brighter and more shared future for South Antrim is within reach. With your support, together we can make it happen.”
