The East Belfast candidate was speaking ahead of tomorrow's poll, in which Alliance candidates will be the main challengers to the incumbent MPs in several constituencies.
“I am appealing to voters of every party and every persuasion to vote Alliance. Whether they have voted for Alliance in the past or not, whether they normally vote for other parties or whether they have never voted at all. This Thursday is an opportunity for you to show what kind of representation you want on your behalf,” said Mrs Long.
“Alliance has fought this campaign on our platform of leading change, showcasing responsible leadership and trustworthiness in our dealings. We are uniquely positioned as the key challengers in a number of constituencies, which has been backed by polls and pundits across the entirety of the election campaign.
“That is because we have been talking about the issues that matter to people. The biggest issue for the vast majority now is about people’s lives – their families, their jobs, the economy, their health, their child’s education, the cost of childcare, the future of the planet and lots more.
“Alliance has also been focusing on the matters which our MPs will be able to tackle in Westminster, such as increasing the financial package for Northern Ireland to enable us to invest better in public services, and reform of the political institutions, so one party cannot collapse things again.
“That’s why it is vital people come out on Thursday and vote for Alliance candidates. If they multiply their Alliance representation at Westminster, they will get the positive, progressive representatives who are leading change and seeking equality across our society.”
