The incident involved a gang of masked men, some of whom were armed, forcing their way into the property with a machete at around 8:50pm before making off. A woman was left badly shaken, and with cuts and swelling, after being struck over the head with a gun.

Police are currently investigating.

“I’m absolutely shocked to hear of such a callous and vicious attack, which will no doubt also prove incredibly concerning to the people of Bangor and the wider community, especially with the use of such weapons” said Connie.

“My thoughts are with the woman who was subjected to such a horrific ordeal, and I would implore anyone who has any potentially useful information on this incident to get in contact with the PSNI, or anonymously through Crimestoppers”.
