
The victim was shot in the leg and his injuries are thought to be severe but non-fatal.
Ms Egan has said: “There is absolutely no place for this kind of senseless violence in our society, and the community here in Bangor has been left shocked and appalled by this attack.
“My thoughts and sympathies are with the victim at this time and I hope they’re receiving all the support they need in order to make a full recovery from this horrific incident.
“Whilst we can count ourselves lucky we did not see someone lose their life in this instance, it could so easily have been a much more tragic outcome.
“I would urge anyone with any information that may aid police in their investigations into this incident to please get in touch with them, or report it anonymously via Crimestoppers.”
