DUP MLA must apologise for using homophobic slur on national TV, says Tennyson

Alliance Deputy Leader Eóin Tennyson MLA has called on DUP MLA Jonathan Buckley to apologise immediately following his car crash performance on BBC Question Time, during which he used a homophobic slur on national television.

The Upper Bann MLA said: “Using a homophobic slur on national TV isn’t just offensive, it’s embarrassing. Jonathan Buckley should apologise for his car-crash performance.

“Sadly, we’ve come to expect these playground insults from DUP politicians. Their nasty, divisive and hateful rhetoric is increasingly out of touch and out of date.

"It demeans respectful public debate and certainly doesn’t represent the vast majority of people in Northern Ireland, who are decent, fair and inclusive.”
