O'Lynn says we must Break the Bias on International Women's Day

Alliance’s Patricia O’Lynn has said we must do all we can to Break the Bias for future generations, as she celebrated International Women’s Day.

Speaking shortly after she addressed the Alliance Party’s conference, the Party’s North Antrim candidate said she felt real pride in stepping forward and adding her voice to an often male-orientated political arena.

She added: “Not only does the Alliance Party have so many new candidates going forward for election this year, but it is amazing to see the number of women, from all backgrounds and situations standing up and having their voices heard.

“We have come so far in the past number of years – imagine what the future will look like. I want to see a gender equal work, free of bias and stereotypes, where we can celebrate the diverse nature of politics and encourage more and more women to come forward – because what a story we have to tell.

“This year we are being encouraged to #BreakTheBias, yet I’m proud in Alliance it is something we continue to do every day, in supporting and encouraging women to come forward.

“Together we can continue to break down the barriers that still exist, creating a truly inclusive society for women everywhere.”
