The South Belfast MLA stated: “The Framework is an excellent piece of work combining four essential pillars - prevention, early intervention, urgent and emergency care, and palliative care.
“It recognises fundamentally that adults in care homes have the same rights to these as anyone else, and that it is essential to look ahead to wider preventative care and ongoing well-being to deliver the best outcomes.
“It is noteworthy that the absolute priority is on prevention of ill health and injury in the first place. This is entirely in line with the direction of the transformation agenda.
“It is essential now that the Framework is pursued and the principles within it broadened to other areas of provision.”
