Speaking after the announcement was made by officials, East Antrim MLA Mr Donnelly said: “The announcement of an additional 48 jobs to support the NIAS is welcomed but long overdue.
“The NIAS has been crying out for staff and I’m pleased to see the Department for Health is responding to the evident need for additional workforce support which will benefit long-term workforce planning.”
South Belfast MLA Ms Bradshaw added: “Today’s announcement ushers further success of the NIAS Clinical Response Model and there is no doubt the increase in paramedics joining the NIAS in September 2024 will continue to future-proof the organisation and keep it fighting fit for the benefit of our communities.
“The Permanent Secretary is correct the NIAS provides a vital service right across Northern Ireland, and following the increased struggles across the health sector, we know this move will help the NIAS continue to provide a stellar public service.”
