The announcement came during a Ministerial Statement delivered by the Communities Minister earlier today (28 Jan).
The Strangford MLA has said: “That we are able to start moving away from the measures that were made necessary during the Troubles is an encouraging development in the process of peacebuilding here in Northern Ireland.
“We need to focus on taking action against the perpetrators of violence and threatening behaviour, and ensuring they are the ones to bear the burden for their behaviour.
“No form of abuse, violence, or intimidation is ever acceptable, regardless of source or motivation, and everybody deserves a safe place to call home. It’s crucial all social housing applicants who are victims of abuse continue to be provided all the immediate help and support they need to secure appropriate accommodation.
“This is a step in the right direction, and Alliance will continue to support positive, balanced, inclusive housing allocations based on need and ensuring equality of opportunity.”
