Published yesterday (25 June), the report reveals the experiences of victims right across our justice system.

Ms Egan has said: "Listening to the voices of victims is integral for building a justice system that is trauma-informed and consistent across all levels.

"The results of this now-annual Victims Survey provides a welcome opportunity for reflection and comparison across all justice-related agencies and decision-makers to ensure that the experiences of victims are at the centre of all that is done. This reflection is vital for raising public confidence in our justice system.

"I want to sincerely thank all those who entrusted others with their most vulnerable experiences in order to improve the justice system going forward, as well as the office of Geraldine Hanna, Commissioner Designate for Victims of Crime, who has handled these stories with absolute sensitivity.

"This year's results demonstrate improvements that have been made across certain parts of the system and indicate areas that continue to need focus. Alliance is committed to making sure the voices of victims are heard right across our justice system, and will ensure this invaluable information is used to influence the Department of Justice's upcoming Victims and Witnesses Strategy."
