Alliance MP Stephen Farry has said the Party is “deeply concerned” at the UK Internal Market legislation, adding it is even worse that the speculation.
He added: “At Prime Minister's Questions, Boris Johnson said that he wants to "protect the Northern Irish Peace Process", however, the Internal Market Bill risks undermining the Good Friday Agreement and the return of a hard border on the island of Ireland.
“Northern Ireland only works on the basis of sharing and interdependence, and the Good Friday Agreement reflects those interlocking relationships. The Protocol is the response to that.
“The Government has a duty to demonstrate its commitment to the Withdrawal Agreement in full, including the Northern Ireland Protocol and its protection of the Good Friday Agreement. What is being spun as something to protect Northern Ireland, will actually do the opposite.”
