Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has said we need to stand together to ensure past atrocities are not repeated.
Trevor Lunn said: “This year’s Holocaust Memorial Day is particularly significant as it marks 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, a place where over one million innocent men, women and children were killed.
“Holocaust Memorial Day reminds us of the many horrors that man has inflicted upon man across the world. The theme for this year’s commemoration is Stand Together, and across the world we need to stand together to ensure such atrocities are never repeated.
“We also need to stand together to speak out against oppression and the spread of hatred in our society. In many countries, the rise of populist politics has caused concern amongst minority groupings. It is up to the majority to speak out against intolerance and hatred and build a better society for all.”
