Your Spokesperson in Lagan Valley is: Sorcha Eastwood
First elected to Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council in 2019, Sorcha was also Alliance candidate for the Westminster election later that year, achieving Alliance’s best-ever result in the constituency.
A lifelong resident of Lagan Valley, she has worked with many people and organisations across the constituency on a range of issues, including mental health, education, jobs and climate change.
Sorcha is a champion for young and vulnerable people, having worked hard on improving youth employment, youth mental health and safeguarding issues.
Sorcha's priorities for Lagan Valley
1. Education and Young People
Sorcha knows our young people need better outcomes, often facing a lack of facilities and opportunities. She has been pushing for improvements so we have an education system which means every school is a good school.
Health is a priority for Sorcha, whether making sure our health service sees reform and investment while remaining free at the point of delivery, or creating a mental health strategy for Northern Ireland. She will continue working to improve and protect the service for constituents.
3. Climate Change
Sorcha is an advocate for acting now to prevent the climate emergency. She is a strong voice for taking urgent action to protect the planet’s biodiversity, green energy and sustainability for future generations, in Lagan Valley and across the globe.
