Reports claiming senior DUP members were aware of allegations against Jeffrey Donaldson deeply concerning and raises questions, says Tennyson

Alliance Deputy Leader Eóin Tennyson MLA has said that the recent claim that DUP members were made aware of an alleged sexual assault by Jeffrey Donaldson is deeply concerning and raises further questions.

Eóin Tennyson

He was speaking after the Belfast Telegraph reported a new allegation of sexual assault against convicted child abuser and former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson. It has also been reported that senior DUP members were made aware of the incident.

Mr Tennyson said: “The latest reported claim that senior DUP members were made aware of an alleged sexual assault by Jeffrey Donaldson is deeply concerning.

“Taken alongside other recent reports, including separate claims about a ‘warning’ allegedly given to another young woman about Donaldson’s behaviour, each new revelation raises further questions about whether opportunities were missed to protect people and what action was taken.

“The public is entitled to expect openness and transparency about who knew what and when. These serious questions cannot simply be brushed aside.”
