Alliance Ballymena Councillor Patricia O’Lynn has said she is delighted after a deal was reached in principle for the sale of Wrightbus.
Jo Bamford said an agreement had been reached with the Wright family for the factory and land, although a deal was still to be concluded with administrators.
“This is great news and I am delighted for the workers of Wrightbus,” said Councillor O’Lynn.
“I am cautiously optimistic a formal deal will be signed over the forthcoming days and any remaining issues addressed. Alliance will continue to engage and where necessary ask questions around the various components of any final deal. I also hope Mr Bamford will honour his previous statement to create new jobs within a fortnight of a deal being secured.
“While this is a great day for the workers of Wrightbus, their jobs should not have been in jeopardy in the first place. It is clear we need the Executive restored so it can put together a strategy to protect and enhance manufacturing jobs in Northern Ireland.”
