Galgorm Collection has planned to build the course at Bellarena on the north west coast between Limavady and Coleraine. While the project is pending planning approval, development of the Bellarena Golf Links is set to begin next year, with plans to open in 2029.

Alderman Stewart said: “This announcement is very exciting and signifies a major vote of confidence in our Borough, presenting a transformational opportunity for the North West.

“The development of the course not only reinforces our proud reputation as a world-class golf destination, but it also promises to bring real and lasting benefits to our local communities, from new jobs and apprenticeships to increased tourism spend and long-term investment.

“The planned 18-hole course at Bellarena will sit within one of the most scenic coastal landscapes anywhere in Europe, and I commend Galgorm Collection for their bold vision and commitment to delivering a project of such scale and ambition, sending a strong message that Causeway Coast and Glens is open for business.

“As Deputy Mayor, I look forward to working with developers and all interested parties to help make this vision a reality, one that respects our environment, celebrates our natural beauty, and strengthens the prosperity of the entire region.”
