Ms McAllister has said: “This flag is an absolutely repulsive image. There can be no tolerance for the kind of violence, hatred, and sectarianism the messaging it, or the placing of these flags and emblems on the bonfire itself, promotes. It’s not welcome here, or anywhere.
“Those who erected the flag and placed these items do not speak for or represent the vast majority of residents in the area, those that want to live in a shared, inclusive, and united community here in Northern Ireland that we’re trying to build.
“This must be wholly condemned by all and the offensive material removed as soon as possible.”
