Lyttle encourages participation in Walkway scheme process

Alliance East Belfast MLA Chris Lyttle has encouraged people to participate in a process designed to decide on environmental improvements at Bloomfield Walkway.

Work is due to start on the stretch of walkway, which runs from the Beersbridge Road onto the Upper Newtownards Road at Holywood Arches, at the end of March. Plans include new planting and landscaping, new street furniture, upgrading of paths and resurfacing, enhanced lighting and improved accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists.

Two information sessions are due to take place for people to hear about the plans and give their feedback. They are due to take place at Eastside Visitor Centre on the Newtownards Road on March 8 between 2pm-7pm and Walkway Community Centre on Finvoy Street on March 11 between 10am-3pm.

"Bloomfield Walkway is an incredibly popular route for everyone across East Belfast, with pedestrians and cyclists benefitting from it every day. It is a space everyone can use and enjoy, and an important place which provides leisure, as well as sustainable transport.

"There is a real ownership of the Walkway by the local community, so I encourage those who use it to participate in these feedback sessions and give their thoughts on how it can be improved to help improve this fantastic community asset even further."
