Alliance party spokesperson for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and member of Northern Ireland Assembly since 2018
Member of Northern Ireland Policing Board working to ensure that Northern Ireland has a police service which represents and reaches all communities.
Served on Antrim and Newtownabbey Council, including as Deputy Mayor in 2015/16, until he was appointed to the Assembly. John was also previously Councillor on Newtownabbey Council between 2011-2015.
A former civil servant who worked in Inland Fisheries, John is passionate about protecting our environment and empowering local people to help make Northern Ireland greener.
John has a well-known record of hard work across the South Antrim constituency on many issues including housing, roads, transport, health and well-being.
Equal Access to Jobs and Services
We need to make sure that everyone in South Antrim has equal access to services and jobs across the constituency. John will work to ensure that regardless of what town or village you are from, people will have the same opportunities. We need better connectivity across South Antrim including better public transport, improved infrastructure and more jobs in rural areas.
Local Environment
John is determined to work to maximise effort at all levels of government to provide cleaner air, water and accessible green spaces for the people of South Antrim. He will also support greater government action to tackle climate change and reduce our dependency on fossil fuels.
Safer Communities
During his time as an elected representative, John has worked closely with local police to provide a safer South Antrim. He will work to fully develop local structures to increase co-operation between local communities, schools, businesses, young people and the police.
