Alliance North Down Councillor Karen Douglas has expressed her condolences after a woman in her 70s was killed after being hit by a car in Bangor.
The pedestrian was walking at the Windmill Road junction with the Donaghadee Road around 7.15pm yesterday (Saturday) when she was hit. She died at the scene.
"This is shocking news and my deepest condolences go to this woman's loved ones," said Councillor Douglas.
"Unfortunately, this stretch of road has seen tragedy before. This is another example of how dangerous our roads can be for everyone, including drivers and pedestrians. I encourage all road users and motorists to take extreme care and remain vigilant at all times.
"I would urge anyone with information on this incident or who noticed anything in the area at the time to contact police immediately."
