Your Representative in Lagan Valley is David Honeyford
David has been an Alliance Councillor on Lisburn Castlereagh City Council since May 2019 and is currently Vice-Chair of the Leisure and Communities Committee. He is passionate about helping people excel in all areas of their lives, giving them a voice, bringing change, uniting communities and just getting stuff done for people.
He works in construction and has been self-employed for 25 years.
David is currently the Development Officer at Glenavy GAC, and was presented with the Club Member of the Year Award in 2018.
He has worked to bring support to key charities, including Lisburn Foodbank and Emerge Mental Health Charity. During his short time in council he has pioneered local change, including the Sunday opening of the council-owned football pitches in Lisburn.
David has a reputation for getting things done. He has successfully supported several sports clubs and community groups with funding applications.
David's priorities for Lagan Valley
David has lobbied to create a new large economic zone strategically positioned off a new Knockmore Link Road. On the M1/A1 Belfast/Dublin corridor, this would create the opportunity for capital investment, new business opportunities providing high-skilled jobs in our city.
2. Active Travel
David has consistently lobbied for improved Greenways and active travel opportunities within Lagan Valley connecting places via cycle, running or walking.
David has published proposals for local rail infrastructure and interconnection on this Island. These included opening the Knockmore Hub and reopening the Knockmore line as a Greater Belfast Circle Line. This will help to connect rural communities.
