The Executive Office should release the report by the Commission on Flags, Identity, Culture and Expression immediately, Alliance MLA Paula Bradshaw has said.
The report by the Commission, which was set up in 2016 to examine flag and cultural issues, was submitted to the Executive Office last week. It is believed to make a series of recommendations on the matters.
“It is disappointing the Commission has taken so long to report but I welcome its submission to the Executive Office,” said Ms Bradshaw.
“I appreciate the First Minister and Deputy First Minister will wish to take their time to explore and consider the recommendations the report makes. But I believe it is vital for it to be made public immediately, so we can deal with the emotive subjects contained within the report.
“Instead of waiting until next summer when most of these issues come to the forefront again, we need to get the ball rolling now on whatever recommendations have been made so we can ensure outcomes fair to all and reflective of the diverse traditions we have right across Northern Ireland.”
