Alliance Councillor Karen Douglas has said anti-social behaviour in Bangor can never be acceptable.
Councillor Douglas said: “On Saturday night around 80 young people were in Castle Park drinking alcohol, playing loud music and throwing bottles at police officers. This is totally unacceptable.
“Anyone involved in these activities need to realise the consequences of their actions. If found guilty of lawbreaking they will end up with a conviction that can impact on the rest of their lives. They are attacking police officers whose job is to protect the community and are causing damage to a park used by families and children.
“I would call on parents to ensure you know where your children are at all times. You have a responsibility to ensure these activities stop. It is important our community supports the police and does not distract them from their key duties.”
