Amanda was first elected to Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council to represent Lisburn South more than a decade ago. During this time, she has served as Deputy Mayor and chaired several council committees, most recently the Economic Development Committee.

Speaking after her election to the office of Mayor, Councillor Grehan said: “It is a great honour for me to be elected Mayor, and to have the opportunity to represent the people of Lisburn and Castlereagh as First Citizen.

“Coming from a humble, but proud, working class family, and as a single mother of three children, it has been my privilege to serve the people of Lisburn South, and I look forward to hitting the ground running in my new role.

“As Mayor, I am eager to use my platform to deliver leadership that is inclusive and representative of everyone in the area. The theme for my year is inclusivity for disabilities, ‘a city that sees everyone’.

“I’m also proud to announce that my Mayoral charity is Action Cancer, an organisation that’s focusing on Breast Cancer Awareness and screening.

“During my year, I vow to work with fellow Councillors from every party and with people from right across the local community to best represent everyone in our area and address issues that matter to us all.”
