The PSNI in Ards and North Down has been congratulated on the arrest and charging of a man in relation to the discovery of cannabis factories in Cloughey and Moira.
Councillor Lorna McAlpine said: “The police are to be congratulated on the discovery of the cannabis factory in Cloughey in May this year and the charging of a man in relation to this and other offences. This arrest and seizures has undoubtedly taken a large quantity of illegal drugs off the streets. People should be under no illusion that all drugs are dangerous and can lead to a life of addiction.”
Councillor Owen Gawith said: “Drugs are a scourge in many areas of Northern Ireland causing misery and harm to many people. Through their successful actions in discovering this cannabis farm in Moira, the police have shown how they protect the community, particularly young people, who may be tempted into trying drugs. Anyone with information about illegal activities or drug dealing should pass it to the police on the 101 number or anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
