The North Down MLA said: “I am pleased today to welcome the launch of the extremely important cross-departmental Domestic and Sexual Abuse Strategy for Northern Ireland, led and championed by Alliance Party Justice Minister Naomi Long.
“Let’s be clear - domestic and sexual abuse have absolutely no place in our society in any shape or form. This strategy’s seven-year road map gives us the vision for how to eradicate it once and for all.
“Seeing this strategy launch alongside the Ending Violence against Women and Girls Strategic Framework and two-year action plan only highlights this Executive’s, and in particular Minister Long’s, commitment to tackling the abuse that’s unfortunately became so prevalent in our society.
“The publication of this strategy, following the successful passage of the Domestic Abuse and Civil Proceedings Act in the previous mandate, only further highlights how consistent Minister Long has been in working to build a better and safer Northern Ireland.
“Everyone across our society has a role to play in ending domestic and sexual abuse, and Alliance will continue engaging every department on this strategy and on its delivery in the coming weeks and months.”
