Speech by Kieran McCarthy MLA delivered to 2006 Party Conference on Sat 4th Mar 2006

Conference notes that over half of the population of Northern Ireland has a weight problem, with one in five recognised as being obese.

Conference notes that obesity in children is increasing at an alarming rate, with one in five boys and one in three girls predicted to be obese within 15-20 years if no drastic action is taken.

Conference calls for all unhealthy school meals and snacks in vending machines to be removed from schools and sport/leisure centres.
