Ford says Omagh families deserve the truth about bomb events4.13.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 14th Oct 2008
Alliance Leader David Ford today asked the Assembly to back his call for a legally-binding cross-border investigation into the intelligence information and events surrounding the Omagh bomb. The Alliance Party proposed a motion in the Assembly today. David Ford said: "The Omagh families need the truth. Our motion in the Assembly is about trying to secure full disclosure of all intelligence on a cross-border basis. "The single issue parties need to put their political games aside and recognise the need for total clarity on the events surrounding the bombing. "I hope that our Assembly debate can increase the pressure on the British and Irish governments to commence a legally-blinding cross border process to uncover the truth. So far the Omagh families have been denied real justice. The least they deserve is the support of the Stormont Assembly in their bid to seek the truth about that fateful day." ENDS
