Alliance Chief Whip Kieran McCarthy MLA has stated that because the Stormont Executive is failing to meet today, Sinn Fein and the DUP have turned a few problems into a total crisis.
The Opposition MLA said: "Sinn Fein and the DUP have turned a drama into a crisis. They have let the public down again. Sinn Fein and the DUP have to decide now whether they are in government or taking part in a boxing match. They should be ashamed of themselves.
"Their playground rows are no good for Northern Ireland. We heard yesterday about letters from Robinson and McGuinness on the issue of poverty. What good are letters alone? The public needs action and they need it now. Sinn Fein and the DUP have to get a grip and realise the damage that their brinkmanship is doing.
"I was interested to see the Ulster Unionists and SDLP jointly expressing their annoyance at the failure of the Executive to meet. I look forward to our party leadership meeting with their's to discuss creating a genuinely shared future.
"It is the public that suffer because of the Executive's failure to meet this week. It is deeply selfish and irresponsible of Sinn Fein to fail to go to the Executive meeting today."
