North Belfast Alliance Representative Gerry Lynch has condemned last night's violence on the Crumlin Road. The trouble took place at Ardoyne shops and petrol bombs and fireworks were thrown at police.

Gerry Lynch said: "This is the second night of trouble in a row in this area. I would call for calm. Only a very small minority of people is causing this trouble and it is time the police cracked down and enabled the majority of people to live in peace.

"North Belfast is moving forward and I would hate to see all the progress made to be lost because of the selfish actions of a few hoods."
