Dr Kumar Kamble says tackling traffic congestion will be priority10.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 9th Sep 2008 Alliance Party Enniskillen by-election candidate Dr Kumar Kamble has stated that one of his key priorities if elected will be ending the gridlock which currently exists in the town during rush hour. Dr Kumar Kamble said: "Traffic congestion is a big problem for Enniskillen. Given the rural nature of County Fermanagh I can understand why people feel that they need to use their car every day. I want to help provide people with more options. I will be calling for more funding public transport in rural areas. We need to spend more on public transport and less on roads, to give people the option of leaving their car at home. "Even though I want to see a re-balancing of the transport budget, I believe that the Southern bypass for Enniskillen is another important project that must be completed as quickly as possible. "I will also be campaigning to have more cycle paths created because they will not only encourage more people to use bikes instead of cars, but also boost the tourism industry." ENDS
