Fitzpatrick calls on attacks at Sandleford School to stop2.24.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 8th Sep 2008
Alliance Coleraine Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick has condemned the fourth attack on Sandleford Special School in two weeks. On Sunday night windows at the school for children with learning difficulties were smashed, equipment also was damaged and graffiti was daubed on the walls. Buses were damaged previously which prevented some of the pupils from attending classes. Cllr Fitzpatrick said: "These attacks are completely unacceptable. I have absolutely no idea why this school is repeatedly being attacked but I would call upon those who are carrying out these attacks to stop. "These attacks achieve nothing except to cause disruption to the education of the pupils at the school. "I welcome the news that the police will be increasing patrols in the area to stop any anti social behaviour. Hopefully those behind these attacks will be arrested before they can cause any further damage to the school. "I would also call on anybody with any information about these attacks to contact the police." ENDS
