Coleraine Alliance Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick

Coleraine Alliance Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick has condemned the vicious attack on a young man, resulting in him being seriously injured and left lying on the footpath at Bannfield in Coleraine.

Cllr Fitzpatrick said "I cannot understand how people can be so vicious as to inflict such injuries on another human being and then leave him with his life in jeopardy. I have no doubt that the actions of other members of the public, attending to the victim and summoning medical assistance saved this man's life. It is believed that three persons were involved in the assault and Police are at present investigating the incident. I would encourage anyone with information regarding this serious matter to contact the Police. The sooner the culprits are caught the better for all of us."
