Chair of Newtownabbey District Policing Partnership Cllr Tom Campbell has expressed shock and concern at news that a man has gone missing at a landfill site in Mallusk. David Leyland, 23, who is missing works at the Biffa Waste site in County Antrim.

Newtownabbey Alliance Councillor Tom Campbell said: "This is very worrying. I am deeply concerned about the matter and I hope that David is found and is uninjured.

"Given the recent flooding, there may be increased safety risks at the landfill site.

"David was committed to his job and has been working there for six years. It is very sad to hear about his disappearance. My thoughts are with his family and fiends at this difficult time, and I hope that David can be re-united with them safe and well."
