Alliance Health Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has asked why the Health Minister has only acted now to enlist a team of experts from England to help combat C Difficile, when the outbreak has been a major problem for the past year and a half.

Kieran McCarthy MLA stated: "Why did it take so long for the Health Minister to call in the experts to help fight C Diff.

"Northern Ireland has needed this help all along yet the Minister failed to call on those with long-running expertise in this area until now.

"C Diff has caused untold anguish to many families across Northern Ireland and the Health Minister needs to show the public that he is capable of dealing with this devastating problem. The public must have confidence in our hospitals but the Minister has delivered little to maintain this confidence."
