Castlereagh Alliance Councillor Michael Long has slammed those involved in a robbery at a 94-year-old man's house in the Greenlea Gardens area near Braniel in East Belfast. The robbery took place around 11.30pm last night and a sum of money was stolen along with the man's emergency pendant.

Alliance Party Chair Cllr Michael Long said: "This was a despicable incident, made all the more shocking by the fact that the two robbers not only stole cash, but also the pensioner's emergency pendant.

"The local community will be appalled at this callous crime. This must have been a terrifying ordeal for the man and my thoughts are with him after this deeply traumatic event.

"I would call on anyone who has information on this robbery to contact police immediately. People who are capable of robbing a 94-year-old need to be taken off our streets quickly."
