North Belfast Alliance Spokesperson Gerry Lynch has blasted those involved in the knifepoint robbery of a 69-year-old woman in North Belfast. The robbery took place at her home in the Old Westland Road area just before 3.30am this morning.

Gerry Lynch stated: "This was a despicable attack. It is extremely disturbing to hear that a knife was used in this robbery.

"What type of person would rob a pensioner at knifepoint in their own home in the middle of the night?

"My thoughts are with the victim of this robbery after her horrific ordeal.

"Thugs who carry out attacks like this simply must be taken off our streets as soon as possible. I call on anyone who has information on this incident to call police and assist them in putting these thugs behind bars."
