Alliance Party economy spokesperson Cllr Ian James Parsley has welcomed news of $150 million of investment from New York.

Speaking having attended the US-Ireland Alliance dinner to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Agreement, the North Down Councillor stated: "This is an investment in the people of Northern Ireland, and it is much deserved.

"Ten years ago, there were people within Northern Ireland who were not prepared to invest in the future - now we have people in New York willing to do so. Given the current economic climate, that is highly significant.

"The most important aspect of this news is not the amount of money involved, but the fact that those investing are expecting a return. This demonstrates that Northern Ireland, at its best, is no longer a charity case, but rather a country with talented people who are genuinely capable of competing on the world stage."
