Holywood Alliance Councillor Ian James Parsley has expressed shock at a tragic accident which saw a two-year-old boy hit by a train at Seahill Halt outside Bangor. Cllr Parsley visited the scene shortly after the incident, which occurred just before 11.00am this morning.

Cllr Ian Parsley stated: "I visited the scene shortly after the crash and it appears that this was a tragic accident.

"My thoughts are with the family of the injured child, and the train driver who appears to have prevented an even more devastating scenario.

"I would like to congratulate the emergency services and I am hopeful that the child will make a full recovery. I await with interest the outcome of the inquiry into the accident."
