Coleraine Alliance Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick has stated that he is totally sickened by the person who carried out an incident in which a bus driver was set alight in Portrush, as people tried to rob him. The incident took place on the Ballywillan Road on Friday night.

Cllr Barney Fitzpatrick said: "I am totally sickened by the person who carried out this vicious attack.

"This incident must have been extremely traumatic for the bus driver and for passengers on the bus.

"It is distressing to even contemplate the level of malice shown by this thug. A strong signal must be sent out against those who would seek to endanger the safety of public transport staff. These staff do a great job in the frontline of important local services and they must be allowed to get on with their work, free from fear or intimidation."
