Alliance South Belfast MLA Anna Lo has uttered her disgust at the daubing of racist graffiti in the Village area of South Belfast. Nazi symbols and racist slogans appeared on a bridge along the Donegall Road.

The South Belfast MLA said: "Such symbols and graffiti disgust me and have no place in our society.

"I am sure that local people are very annoyed that this graffiti has appeared and I am sure that they are angry with those who painted it.

"We want to show the world that this place is welcoming to everyone. We want to show the world that Northern Ireland is open for business.

"This type of behaviour must be stamped out. The Village area is moving forward positively and I know that people in the area will be disgusted at this type of behaviour."
