Alliance Health Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has expressed serious concern at news that ambulance response records were falsified and said that a strong message must be sent out to deter such actions in future.123 case records were falsified and two staff members were suspended.

Strangford MLA Kieran McCarthy said: "I am shocked and surprised that staff would do such a thing. Such actions must be stamped out permanently and a strong message must be sent to those who would contemplate falsifying records.

"Procedures need to be extremely tight to ensure that all information is correct. Healthcare staff work under real pressure, but there can be absolutely no justification for such practices.

"Patients must come first, not staff seeking to meet targets at all costs.

"This data is extremely important as it ensures that management can see where vital resources need to be targeted to save more lives."
