East Belfast Alliance Councillor Mervyn Jones has welcomed the opening of the new IKEA store at Hollywood Exchange in Belfast saying it shows the region can compete strongly to lure big names to Belfast.

Councillor Mervyn Jones said: "This opening is great news for Belfast. IKEA has created many new jobs and has also created a real buzz around the city. This opening is a sign of things to come for Belfast.

"It's so good to get more big name stores to Belfast. We can compete strongly when it comes to retail and this IKEA store proves it. Everyone is also excited about the opening of Victoria Square. These retail landmarks are very important for the city and its economy."
